Anti-Spam Filtering Service

This article gives additional information about 2020Media's add-on junk email filtering service.

Stop All Email Threats

We scan your email for spam, phishing attacks, malware and viruses. All offending mail is held in secure quarantine in an external network.

Our hosted service protects your email against:
  • Spam
  • Computer viruses
  • Malware
  • Phishing emails
  • Spoofed undeliverable notices
  • Denial of Service Attacks (DoS)

Once the service is setup, it will take effect over the course of the next 24 hours. Any changes to your email accounts such as adding or removing email addresses should be submitted as a customer query at https://pfs.2020media.com/my-messages.html as our email control panel 'gem' isn't able to automatically update the external anti-spam system.

Reporting

You will get an email with subject "Quarantine report for >" each day, you can just click any email in there that you see that should not be marked as spam, or you want to double check. From the page that opens up you can preview the email, release it and/or whitelist the sender for the future. You can also confirm as spam which helps the service get better.

The initial settings are:
Aggression Preference Level: Medium
Bulk Mail Aggression Preference Level: Low
[auto-hide] blatant spam: Off
Country Blacklisting: None
Sender = Recipient Quarantine: Off

More details on each of these settings (which are managed by us for you).

Aggression

Adjust the general aggression level we will use to combat spam sent to your domain. The higher the setting the more mail we will stop, possibly resulting in higher levels of false positives. All mail we stop is placed in quarantine, we do not silently delete any mail.

Bulk Mail Aggression

Bulk mail are messages that are normally sent through a paid service, designed specifically for sending large quantities of mail. Many companies and websites will regularly (often daily) send their customers promotions and marketing material through these bulk mail services.

When we place bulk mail into quarantine we will indicate that it is bulk by using an orange email icon.

Sender = Recipient

A common technique for spammers is to spoof the sender address, making it appear that the sender = recipient. To combat this type of spam you can block mail sent from user@yourdomain to user@yourdomain. Easily block this type of spam with this aggression setting; which is safe for the vast majority of our customers to use without triggering an increase in false positives.

Country Blacklisting

In addition to the above aggression settings, be sure to check out country blacklisting. Country blacklisting is one of the most powerful filters available, messages stopped by country filtering are automatically placed in quarantine and whitelisting rules always take priority. It is possible to block all email originating from a specific country but still allow mail from your contacts to pass without inspection using whitelisting rules.

[auto-hide]

Our [auto-hide] feature allows you to reduce the number of messages we include in email quarantine reports. We will pass some types of spam through multiple spam checks, if a message fails all checks we exclude the message from email quarantine reports. All messages remain in the web based quarantine view, so you retain access to all messages if necessary. This feature is greatly enhanced if you are also using country blacklisting.

From the Quarantine email you can check the report online at https://2020media.spamflare.com. If you want to login directly, use the lost password function: https://2020media.spamflare.com/resetpassword and your protected email address to get a login sent to you.
